Frequently asked questions
Which type of organisation matches the use of Financial suite© (=FS)best?
FS covers most of the generic financial tasks for all organisations and as a result covers approx 80 % of all P and C tasks

Financial suite© is suitablefor any organisation in which more people frequently share the same financial data: i.e. - organisations with multiple entities

We don't host FS on our servers, the organisation can decide wheather it uses hosted SharePoint or uses an own SharePoint environment
Can I stop using shared network drives?
Using WSS and Excel we advise to continue networkdrives but not for document managemnet. Moss 2007 supports Excel services, if you use Moss, you can consider stopping with network drives.
What is the difference between WSS and Moss?
WSS is free on any Windows Server 2003, 2008, small business (this can vary per country) and is directly deployable by your IT dept.
SharePoint supports the use of encrypted files. IT can arrange deployment of that option.
FS uses the SharePoint groups, where the site administrator (not necessarily IT)can manage the rights and the users.
Is there a limit to the number of documents that SharePoint/FS supports?
You can store an unlimited number of documents in SharePoint. By the taxonomie of FS you will not encounter the limits.

If you have a singIe or limited number of entities you can choose hosted or BPOS.
Do I need to migrate data to FS before I start?
No. Select a site to start (reporting), start with current data and than migrate the data yourself.
We have changed many procedures, how can I convince my colleguaes to use FS?
FS is made to support the work of people on the planning and control dept. It is comfortable to know where to find your tasks and documents.
Transfer of files over to Record Center - missing some meta data fields.
We have seen that lookup fields and bdc (related) fields are not copied/moved by Sharepoint. You will need to handle these type of fields yourself.
Can I save on the auditor costs?
yes, you create a library to share with the auditors and upload the relevant documents there. You create a SharePoint Group auditors and connect that with the library. Using FS, shows that you are "in control".
